Forget crowbars and hotwiring – the only equipment that a modern day car thief needs to take off in your vehicle is an iPad, according to a new report by Senator Edward Markey. The Massachusetts politician found that almost all cars on the market today are vulnerable to “hacking or privacy intrusions.” Top car manufacturers including General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen Audi and Volvo, found that their protection of potentially sensitive technology was “alarmingly inconsistent and incomplete.” According to Markey, nearly 100% of cars on the market today include…

UK Government Launches Review of Driverless Cars

The Department of Transport in the UK is to make changes to road regulations to accommodate driverless cars on the roads. The government wants the United Kingdom to be the world leader of driverless technology. It will therefore publish a code of practice in the spring which will allow the testing of autonomous cars to go begin. A fleet of self-driving “pods” will be tested in Milton Keynes and Coventry. The Classic Team Lotus stand at this years Autosport International exhibition being held in the Birmingham NEC is a homage to Jim Clark, 50 years after his historic clean sweep. In 1965 Clark managed to win the Indianapolis 500, the Formula One World Championship, the Formula Two Championship and the Tasman Championship.
